The Glorious Tiger Inn
Tiger Inn is one of Princeton University’s oldest and most popular Eating Clubs. Founded in 1890 for 30 members, the recently expanded clubhouse is now the dining and social hub for ~170 junior and senior students. In the spring, ~90 sophomores (45 male/45 female) are selected as new members from a pool of more than 350 applicants.
An Important Place to Find Community
Each Eating Club has its own culture and vibe. The popularity of Tiger Inn is due largely to its relaxed environment. Members and guests are encouraged to be themselves, with no social pressure to conform to a type. Since going co-ed more than three decades ago, the club has worked to be the inclusive, accepting and welcoming place it is today.
As Princeton continues to increase the size of its student body, Tiger Inn becomes an increasingly important place for students to find community. Not only do they come to the club for 19 meals and several parties a week, there are myriad other activities and events. Bus loads of TI members travel to concerts, professional sporting events, Six Flags, Atlantic City, Broadway plays and the like. They also participate in intramural sports, intra-club tournaments and career nights as well as hosting community events such as the annual winter festival conducted for area children and their families.

An Integrated, Tightly Knit Group
The membership comprises all factions of the Princeton community and yet is a well integrated, tightly knit group. Small cliques might be seen in other places around campus, but exclusive behavior is not supported at TI. When members and guests come to dinner, they sit in the next available seats at the long tables in Tiger Inn’s glorious dining hall—rather than small round tables seen in other clubs. Everyone takes turns staying sober during parties to assist other members in need, and every member pitches in to set up for parties or participate in community charitable events.
Come Visit Tiger Inn!
Members also stay close after graduation, coming back often for football weekends, Alumni Day, Reunions and more. When the Boston Celtics won the NBA Championship, owner Wyc Grousbeck ’83 brought the trophy to dinner at TI so members could hold it and ask questions about the season.
If you are an underclass student, come visit Tiger Inn! Drop by during a PUID party. You can also set up a meal exchange by approaching a member or by calling our business manager, Becca Rees, at tigerinnbusiness@gmail.com.
